Songwriter and musician, Al Kooper was the genius behind the original Blood, Sweat & Tears album, Child Is Father to the Man, released in February 1968 by Columbia Records. With its fusion of jazz, rock, blues, and soul, it was unique at that time, though it was less commercially successful than their subsequent releases without Kooper\'s leadership.
