Brief Biography
Lisa M. Fomin was born on the 24-th of December in 1982 in the so-called capital of the Far-East Russia, Magadan. Her family had lived there till the 1993 when her parents decided to move to the center of the country to give their children the opportunity of getting the good education. They moved to Saint-Petersburg. Lisa and her little brother went to the Private School of Saint-Peter where they had been studying German, English, French, Philosophy, History of the World, Science and other subjects for about 4 years. Lisa also attended the vocal classes in the music school and modeling classes in the Modeling School in the evenings. In the year of 1997 Lisa went to the Business School to prepare herself for further studying in the University. Her main subjects were Economics, Banking, Marketing, Math and also English. She became the first-year student of the Saint-Petersburg University of Economics and Finance in 1999. While studying in the university she attended acting classes at the students acting studio and took part in different student performances.
The 2000 was the year of the beginning for songwriting. Before in 1998 and 1999 Lisa worked with DJ Alpha as the author of texts and the singer for DJ-projects. Because of disagreements in music-styles and plans they called cooperation a day. Lisa recorded 2 songs at the studio together with familiar sound engineers and musicians (one song in Russian, one in English, both in pop-rock style). Then Lisa began her cooperation with DJ Liss (now DJ Swirski) with who she worked in several night clubs in Saint-Petersburg and recorded three arrangements and who made remix version of Lisa’s song " We're in Love " for the radio “Satellite” in Russia. In parallel Lisa participated in annual interuniversity St.Petersburg vocal contest "Students’ Spring". In 2002 became the winner of this competition with a song " Tomorrow Never Dies ", and in 2003 has taken Grand prix with a song " Hanky Panky " (Madonna). In the beginning of 2002 at the studio Neva - Records she recorded the song " We're in Love " (the music- Nikolai Korolev, lyrics - Lisa, arrangement and keyboards - Dmitri Stepanenko) which was written especially for the song-contest "Eurovision". From that moment Lisa started cooperation with composer Nikolai Korolev with who she recorded one more song and some arrangements, and with Dmitri Stepanenko with who she sometimes sang a duet and recorded arrangements for new songs. In the summer of 2003 Lisa went to Ireland where her parents and brother had lived for the 3 last years in Mountcharles, Co. Donegal. There she recorded three more songs with a help of musicians from the Irish rock-band “Scam”. The owner of the Donegal Studios liked one of the songs very much and promised to launch playing this song on the North-West Radio. But very soon Lisa’s parents got the permanent resident visa in Australia and they had to leave Ireland for a brand new life in Oz.
In November 2003 Lisa succeeded in auditions for the new youth musical in Sydney. The world premier of the musical “If This”, by Lane Hinchcliff, in which Lisa played a role of the hospital nurse during the WW1, took place on the 29-th of January 2004 at Pennant Hills Community Centre, Pennant Hills, NSW. There were also performances on the 30th and 31-st of January.
These days Lisa is working singing jazz-pop with a brilliant concert pianist Chris Garside. You can meet her in the jazz-café Avery at Avillion Hotel (Liverpool street, Sydney) singing with the best jazz bands of Australia and USA every Thursday.
She also is writing and singing for a gothic-rock band “Obliviah”.
