An instrumental version of the guitar song Penny Lane, the Beatles, written by Paul McCartney (attributed to Lennon and McCartney). The name of the song comes from the eponymous Street in Liverpool. The song was recorded during sessions dedicated to the album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and released in February 1967 onwards on the single with the two parties "and" together with the song "Strawberry Fields Forever". Both songs later included on the album Magical Mystery Tour (1967). In 2004 Rolling Stone magazine awarded the song 456 position in the list of 500 greatest songs of all time .
